NCHC Frozen Faceoff March 18 & 19
SAINT PAUL, Minn. – After not holding its championship tournament at its true home the last two seasons due to the pandemic, the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) is returning to Saint Paul for the Frozen Faceoff at Xcel Energy Center in 2022. With the Conference unofficially beginning the 2021-22 season today (Thursday) at Xcel Energy Center with Media Day, fans can now renew their tickets to attend the climax of the NCHC’s ninth season at the same location in March.
Fans who purchased all-session tickets to the 2020 Frozen Faceoff (the 2020 event was ultimately cancelled) have the first opportunity to buy tickets to the 2022 championship and will receive an email from Xcel Energy Center with instructions on how to purchase 2022 tickets, including upgrading seat locations and purchasing additional tickets. Ticket renewals must be completed by Friday, Oct. 22.
Fans who renew their Frozen Faceoff tickets by Oct. 22 will secure discounted pricing from the 2022 general on-sale price. All-session tickets to the 2022 NCHC Frozen Faceoff will then go on sale to the general public on Friday, Nov. 5 at noon CT. Pricing for general public tickets to the 2022 event will be announced prior to Nov. 5.
All-session ticket packages to the 2022 NCHC Frozen Faceoff include two tickets: one ticket to see both semifinals on Friday, March 18 and one ticket to see the championship game on Saturday, March 19. For the first time in 2022, the Frozen Faceoff will not include a third-place game, but rather renewing ticket holders will have the opportunity to purchase tickets to the Minnesota Wild game on the afternoon of Championship Saturday, as the Wild host the Chicago Blackhawks on March 19.
On March 18, the first Frozen Faceoff semifinal begins at 4:00 p.m. CT with the second game at 7:30 p.m. CT. The following day, the Wild game starts at 1 p.m. CT with the NCHC Frozen Faceoff championship at 7:30 p.m. CT.

The 2020 Frozen Faceoff was cancelled due to the pandemic, while the 2021 Frozen Faceoff was moved to Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks, N.D. and used a single-elimination format, with North Dakota winning its first Frozen Faceoff. The 2022 NCHC Tournament will return to best-of-three quarterfinal series on campus sites (March 11-13) with the four series winners advancing to the Frozen Faceoff.
The NCHC officially drops the puck on the 2021-22 season on Saturday, Oct. 2 with three non-conference contests and a trio of exhibition games.
