Xcel Energy Center, home of the Minnesota Wild, was awarded 21 GOAL Medals for outstanding sustainability efforts at the First Annual Venue & Event All-Stars Award Ceremony earlier this week.
The GOAL Medal Awards are an opportunity to recognize leadership in a variety of sustainability-related topics from Environmental, to Social, to Governance. The ESG categories are broken into 10 various topics that GOAL Members can be recognized for various actions at either a bronze, silver, or gold level. The arena won four gold, 11 silver and six bronze medals.
Gold medals in:
- Publicly Communicate Sustainability Story
- Implement ESG-Driven Purchasing Policy
- Engage On-Site Visitors
- Promote Indoor Air Quality & Ventilation
Silver medals in:
- Engage On-Site Sustainability Committee
- Increase Energy Efficiency
- Support & Prioritize EVs
- Prioritize Renewable Energy
- Engage Digital Followers
- Prioritize Green Cleaning
- Measure & Report Waste Data
- Develop & Deploy Waste Management Plan
- Properly Dispose of Hard to Recycle & Hazardous Materials
- Increase Waste Diversion by Recycling
- Increase Waste Diversion by Composting
Bronze medals in:
- Equip Staff with Sustainability Training
- Measure & Report CHC Emissions
- Reduce Harmful Refrigerants & GHGs
- Activate Brand Partnership for Sustainable Improvements, Upgrades & Visitor Engagement
- Partner with Sustainability Solution-Focused Brands
- Host & Convene Civic Engagement
